Slow-Cooker General Tso's Chicken

Ingredients

Sauce

  • 0.5 c water
  • 0.25 c light brown sugar, packed
  • 4 T hoisin sauce
  • 3 T low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 T rice vinegar
  • 2 t sesame oil
  • 0.5 t garlic powder
  • 0.5 t ground ginger Chicken
  • 0.5 c corn starch
  • 1 t salt
  • 0.5 t ground black pepper
  • 0.5 t each garlic powder and onion powder
  • 0.25 t ground cumin
  • 2 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 2 T vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Add all sauce ingredients to liquid measuring cup and wisk to combine.
  2. To make chicken, combine cornstarch and seasonings in glass container with lid. Add chicken, seal lid and shake gently to coat the chicken.
  3. In large nonstick skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Working in batches, add chicken in single layer and sear 2 minutes on both sides till golden brown.
  4. Add chicken to slow cooker; stir in sauce. Cook on low 1.5 hours till reaching internal temp of 165 F.
  5. Serve with rice, steamed broccoli and desired toppings.
