Chocolaty Cream of Wheat
My Dad would cook Coco Wheats for us when we were kids. They were the best. Mostly because they couldn’t be beat and were a creamy hot cereal. It’s a bit harder to find now. The only person in our area that sells them is Wally.
The butter can be salted or unsalted. The additional milk will just thin out the cereal if it got too thick. You can use other sweeteners like honey if you want. That might tweak some of the heating times or consistency.

- 2 minutes
Ingredients
- 3 T Cream of Wheat
- 1 T Baking cocoa
- 1 T Sugar
- 0.75 - 1 C Milk
- 1 Pinch of salt
- 0.5-1 T Butter (optional)
- 1 Splash of milk (optional)
Directions
- Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl
- Add the milk and mix everything up.
- Microwave on high for 1 minute and then stir.
- Microwave for 30 seconds and stir some more, make sure to break up any lumps.
- Repeat Step 4 while watching out for any boil over.
- (optional) Repeat Step 4…again. This will produce a thicker result.
- Top with the pat of butter.
