Pizza Margherita

Instead of fresh tomatoes, you can substitute 1 12-14 oz. can of crushed tomatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 batch of Pizza Dough
  • 1 lb. peeled and cored tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 lb. mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 2 tsp. crumbled oregano
  • other delicious traditional Italian herbs (Basil!!)
  • 2 T olive oil

Directions

  1. Roll out dough directly on baking sheet( which should be of metal),
  2. Pinch up edges to form a rim.
  3. Mix tomato pulp, and herbs, then spread tomato pulp over dough.
  4. Place mozzarella slices over tomatoes
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, serve piping hot.
